Dispatcher

Responsible for scheduling and sending out both the drivers and vehicles for either delivery or pickup of materials and products to and from a specified destination. Arranges and monitors daily shipment routes and schedules. Reviews logs to identify available transport vehicles and drivers that are appropriate for the job. Properly documents all of the daily calls and requests received as well as the exact details of dispatches made including time and destination. Ensures timely and well-organized movement of goods, vehicles and personnel using computers and other forms of electronic systems for communication, monitoring and dispatch.

Specific Tasks:

Distribute vehicles to the drivers of the company for transporting freight or passengers
Issue vehicles based on distance of necessity of use, type of use, and trip
Assigns keys, record keeping forms, credit cards, and freight papers to drivers
Record the time of leave and return of drivers and vehicles, freight carried, and the endpoint of travel
Communicate with transit drivers and with customers about freight status
